Let us learn to Coexist with Covid – Kadaga

The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga wants the government to start planning on how to coexist with the Covid-19 pandemic, with a view of opening a route for other closed businesses to operate.

Kadaga says this will move hand in hand with the vaccination campaign along with observance of the Standard Operating Procedures.

“I think we need now to learn how to coexist with the pandemic, urge our people to get vaccinated, when the opportunity comes but also to continue observing  the Standard Operating Procedures” Kadaga noted.

She was speaking at celebrations to mark the International Day of the Family organized by the Ministry of Gender Labor and Social Development at Fairway Hotel.

Speaking at the same function, the Minister of State for Gender and Culture Peace Mutuuzo applauded Parliament for the passing of the various bills and laws impacting family lives, the Bills include the Succession Bill, Sexual offences Bill among others.

In its resolution 44/82 of 9 December 1989, The General Assembly proclaimed The International Year of the Family.

In 1993, the General Assembly decided in a resolution (A/RES/47/237) that 15 May of every year should be observed as The International Day of Families. This day provides an opportunity to promote awareness of issues relating to families and to increase the knowledge of the social, economic and demographic processes affecting families.
