The Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua, has outlined key government priorities centred on coordination, refugee management, and climate resilience while presenting the Ministerial Policy Statement of the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) to Parliament’s Presidential Affairs Committee.
Leading the OPM delegation, Obua said the office is positioning itself to drive more coordinated and accountable government action to improve service delivery and support socio-economic transformation.
He noted that emphasis will be placed on strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems to boost the performance of government programmes.
The policy also prioritises targeted interventions in lagging regions and refugee-hosting communities, alongside reinforcing national coordination in refugee protection and management.
Obua further highlighted plans to reduce vulnerability to climate change, extreme weather events, and disasters, describing resilience-building as critical to safeguarding livelihoods.
He added that efforts are underway to strengthen the institutional capacity of the OPM to ensure more efficient and responsive service delivery.
