Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (CoRSU) has launched the Annual CoRSU Walk under the theme “Bring Hope to Children with Disability”, aiming to raise UGX 400 million to provide life-changing support for children with disabilities.

The funds will facilitate 300 surgeries, the purchase of vital medical equipment, and the renovation of the Outpatient Department.

According to the 2014 National Population Census, 12.5% of Ugandans live with disabilities many linked to treatable conditions while 80% of childhood disabilities could be prevented through timely access to specialized services.

Aloysius Bakidde, Chairperson of the CoRSU Walk Committee, celebrated last year’s success, when UGX 78 million was raised, enabling 16 surgeries, procurement of physiotherapy equipment, and expansion of rehabilitation services.

“The impact was felt not just in the hospital wards but also in the homes and communities of every child we supported. The smiles we saw and the parents’ tears of relief continue to fuel our mission every single day,” he said.

Robert Ochai, CoRSU Hopsital’s Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the importance of collective action: “The Annual CoRSU Walk challenges us to act, invest, and become the bridge between despair and possibility.”

Since its founding in 2006, the hospital has upheld the belief that disability must never mean inability.

Ochai noted that this conviction has guided every decision and service, enabling more than 70,000 life-changing surgeries and rehabilitation of over 100,000 patients in just over a decade.

In the past three years alone, CoRSU has conducted an average of 5,246 surgical procedures and 12,500 therapy sessions annually, with children making up 80% of all surgeries.

To accelerate these achievements, the public is encouraged to support the fundraising drive by contributing through CoRSU’s MTN and Airtel Mobile Money numbers, purchasing event kits, or participating in the walk.
