Government orders 9 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine with COVAX Facility and is awaiting feedback on its availability.
Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng says that in addition an order of 2 million doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccines have been signed up with the African Union and payment of 3 million US Dollars has been effected.
Aceng adds that government has instructed its embassies abroad to search for available vaccines on the market and inform the ministry of health accordingly.
Aceng says that the COVID 19 mass vaccination programme has been slowed down by the global shortage of vaccines on the market.
This while giving an update on COVID 19 situation in the country.
Aceng also says while there is a remarkable reduction in confirmed cases of COVID 19 mortality continues to occur among the severe and critically ill who reach the Hospital late.
