The Greater Mpigi Coordinator for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Juma Witonze Kisekka, has declared his intention to represent Uganda in the East African Parliament, saying he wants to promote regional integration and support the vision of President Yoweri Museveni.

Kisekka said the East African Community needs strong voices to advance the region’s integration agenda, including the common market, customs union and political federation.

“I am aspiring to represent Uganda in the East African Parliament because East Africa needs to integrate,” Kisekka said. “President Museveni has been preaching about integration, but he has been alone. I have seen that gap and decided to step forward to support that vision.”

Kisekka, who serves as the Greater Mpigi Coordinator for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), said he intends to push policies that strengthen cooperation among East African states if elected to the East African Legislative Assembly.

He also thanked the Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for endorsing the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among.

Kisekka praised Among for her role in strengthening the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), saying she has worked across different constituencies and districts to mobilize support.

“I want to thank our chairman, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for endorsing the Speaker of Parliament. Mama Anita Annet Among has worked for the NRM. She has moved from one constituency to another and from one district to another delivering for the party,” he said.

He added that leaders who have demonstrated commitment and performance should continue to be supported.

Kisekka said he hopes to add his voice to efforts aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and fulfilling the integration agenda championed by President Museveni.
