Deputy Speaker of Parliament  Jacob Oulanyah has today opened the first nursery and primary school in Komoret sub-county, nakapiripirit District.
Speaking to the community, Oulanyah said that it is the responsibility of government to bridge the differences in education gap and
accord the children in Uganda
equal opportunities.

“We are all Ugandans. I know here you are very near Kenya but Uganda is your mother land and all our children deserve the same opportunities”, he said.

He commended the government for fast tracking the peace process in Karamoja, a move he says  greatly re-branded Karamoja and opened  it to the rest of the world.

“This area used to be a battle field and who could guess that we would be here today celebrating a story of hope?, Oulanyah asked”

He added that nakapiripirit and Karamoja as a whole continues  to defy stereotypes and put to shame people who do not recognize it for the paradise that it is.

“Just a few years ago, it was so difficult to travel to Karamoja. The roads were impassable and almost all bridges were washed off,but now there is tarmac everywhere and more roads are still being constructed to ease connectivity between communities,” said  Oulanyah
He urged the communities of Komoret to embrace development initiatives and actively participate in the processes.

Oulanyah also directed the minister for Karamoja Affairs, Byabagambi John to fence off the school as requested by the school Funders, Rev. Trevor Stevenson of Fields For Life.

The minister for Karamoja Affairs, Byabagambi John welcomed Oulanyah to Nakapiripirit and extended his appreciation to the women of Karamoja, who he says are the heroes of Karamoja.

He reiterated that the women are the eyes and ears of the government and that is why it is paramount that they send each and every child to school.
Esther Anyakun (NRM, Nakapiripirit) expressed her appreciation to Fields For Life for their commitment to change komoret and urged the community  to join hands and make sure that the school prospers . She emphasized to
them that it is only through education that the community can rid itself off poverty

Fields For Life is a Christian non governmental Organization that works within the East African Region to  transform communities through education
They also colloborate with local churches provide water and support teacher training.
