LOVE OR HATE HIM, ABIRIGA COULD BE SMARTER THAN YOUR MP

Opinion by Prince Apollo.

Ibrahim Abiriga, the area MP for Arua Municipality is no doubt the MP who has made his name and made bold headlines in the 10th Parliament. But ofcourse, for wrong reasons.
Abiriga has become a household name and I hear that his name is being integrated into contemporary english vocabulary.
Abiriga made his name when he boldly initiated the age-limit agenda and later when he admitted to have turned a city sidewalk into a lavatory.
But I was shocked to learn that he is the same man behind the extension of MPs tenure from five to seven.
Let’s reason together:
If the guy who is ‘dense’ as purported, ‘insane’ as accused can be the architect of NRM’s agenda, then he must be either smarter than many members in the August house.
The age limit started as a Museveni agenda. But as we speak, ALL MPs have become beneficiaries of the scheme including the opposition members. Billions of shillings have been sunk into the project and even people who call Abiriga names have pocketed millions. What a shame!
If Abiriga, a P4 drop-out can set the agenda for a ruling party, become an architect of schemes that turn to be popular even in the eyes of opposition members, then he could be more intelligent and smarter than many MPs.
I bet:
The amendment to extend MPs tenure will be overwhelmingly supported if it comes to the floor of the house. If it goes that way, then Abiriga deserves some respect.
