Parliament Pays Tribute to Semogerere

The House has paid official tribute to the former Democratic Party (DP) President General Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemwogerere Ssemogerere who passed away last week at the age of 90 describing him as a reconciliatory man.

The leader of the Opposition has asked the government to name a road after Semogerere in his memory.
The motion for a tribute to Dr. Paul Kawanga Semogerere was moved by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and seconded by the acting leader of the opposition Medard Sseggona who commended the government for granting the late a befitting burial.

Prime Minister Nabanjja told the house that Dr. Kawanga Ssemwogerere was a firm advocate and promoter of democracy not only in Democratic Party but in Uganda at large. She added praises to Semogerere as an accomplished politician and leader who played mature politics and always served his country diligently in different capacities.
Medard Lubega Ssegona who represented the leader of the opposition in today’s plenary sitting asked for a road to be named after Semogerere in his memory.

Legislators including the Dokolo district woman MP Cecilia Ogwal among others hailed Semogerere as a very sober politician and described him as an advocate of a federal government who always worked for peace even with those he did not agree with.

Members of parliament have praised him for advocating peace in Uganda and for the love he had for his country. Free corrupt nation and also loved mentoring young people when it comes to politics.
