The Police Flying Squad Unit has arrested three suspects in connection with stolen property, following a tip-off about a suspected vehicle transporting stolen livestock.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Racheal Kawala, on 11 March 2026 at around 2:00 a.m., officers received information regarding a white Toyota Wish motor vehicle, suspected of transporting stolen goods.

“Acting on the tip-off, officers trailed the vehicle to Nakulabye, where it had parked, and the occupants began offloading slaughtered cows,” Kawala said.

The police swiftly arrested three suspects, who are now in custody. The vehicle, registration number UBG 345D, was recovered along with two slaughtered cows in the boot.

The suspects have been identified as ,Saka Salongo ,Guloba Hamza (Butcher)Bukenya John (Driver)

Preliminary investigations indicate that the animals were allegedly stolen from Zirobwe and Luweero districts. Kawala noted that the stolen meat is reportedly sold in Nakulabye at UGX 10,000 per kilogram.

Meat theft remains a persistent challenge in the Kampala Metropolitan area, involving the theft of both live animals and the illegal sale of uninspected meat. Authorities, including the Uganda Police Force (UPF) and local leaders, regularly conduct operations to combat these activities, leading to numerous arrests and the recovery of stolen livestock.
