Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has today commissioned a digital learning facility at Kachumbala Primary School in Bukedea District, urging schools across the country to fully embrace digital education.

The newly launched digital classroom, installed by Nkumba University under the Digitally Community-Centered Early Childhood Development Approach (DECEDA) with support from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), and the Ministries of Education and Sports and ICT, is part of a transformative initiative aimed at promoting inclusive, technology-driven early childhood education in underserved communities.

During the launch, Speaker Among — who also serves as Bukedea District Woman MP — encouraged learners to utilize the digital classroom for research and learning, emphasizing that access to technology will help bridge the gap between rural and privileged schools.

“As government, we shall continue promoting the digital era in everything we are doing — whether in education, health, or business. Our learners are no longer in the analog regime we went through. They are now in a digital world and should be able to maximize technology for quality learning,” she said.

Among directed UCC to equip the school with additional computers to enhance the project’s impact and ensure its long-term success.

“I want to thank UCC for implementing government programs on the promotion of ICT. Continue digitizing schools in all areas of Uganda so that our learners continue getting quality education,” she added.

The Speaker also commended teachers for calling off their strike, assuring them that government remains committed to addressing their grievances comprehensively and in the shortest time possible.
