Members of Acholi parliamentary group have asked the deputy speaker of parliament Anita Among to clear them to go abroad to check on the speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah who has remained missing for close to two months. The group is anxious to establish the  situation around their fellow caucus member.

Acholi Parliamentary group has also asked government to review the NUSAF three project saying it has failed to achieve it’s objectives.

Addressing a press conference at parliament today, leaders of the Acholi parliamentary group expressed disappointment over the continued absence of the speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah.

They revealed that they  have also not had a chance to hear from him for a long time despite the fact that he is a caucus member.

Oulanyah has been missing in parliament for a period close to two months and Acholi caucus wants the deputy speaker Anita Among  to clear them to visit Oulanyah who is said to be abroad for treatment.

Yesterday, Acholi parliamentary group elected it’s leadership chaired by Anthony Akol the Kilak North county MP. Akol has called for Unity and outlined plans to deliver the sub region out of the poverty. According to UBOS statistics, Acholi is the poorest sub- region of Uganda with 68% people living below the poverty line.

Legislators are concerned that the numerous government interventions to eradicate poverty Acholi including NUSAF one, two and three together with PRDP have turned out of be white elephants with no tangible impact on the ground. They demand for a review of the projects .
However MPs now expect much from government since the sub-region voted overwhelmingly for NRM in the Jan 14th elections.
