The Parliamentary Forum for Conservation and Sustainable Tourism has tasked the government with investigating the underlying causes of the dwindling lion population before rolling out Shs10 billion for the breeding of lions as requested by wildlife authorities to boost the dwindling lion population. The Uganda Manufacturers Association has warned that any attempt to enact the Alcoholic Drinks Control Bill 2023 in its current form will likely crash Uganda’s economy because it is targeting the formal sector that is regulated while leaving the informal sector to produce illicit alcohol which is detrimental to the health of consumers. Lawmakers from the Karamoja sub-region have expressed their opposition to a government bill seeking to abolish the Karamoja Development Agency (KDA) under the Rationalization of Agencies and Public Expenditure (RAPEX) program.
