Deputy speaker  of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah has applauded Ankole Diocese for uniting the people of Ankole and for championing peace in the region.
He said that Ankole has maintained a peaceful environment and this has greatly been as a result of the contributions of the church. He urged them to continue being peace makers so that it over flows to the rest of the country.
Oulanyah was speaking during the Diocesan 15th Anniversary  and fundraising for the completion of canon Buningwire church guest house today   in Rusherere, Kiruhura.
“Blessed are the peace makers, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven, so let us all continue on the same path of love, let us use this love to show to others who may wish to spoil the peace we have, the right way”, Oulanyah said.
While remembering the late Mzeei Yoweri Buningwire, Oulanyah recalled the period of turbulence that Uganda went through and said that it was regrettable that such events could occur in the pearl of Africa.. He called on the Christians of Rusherere to reject any persons who donot recognize the many hurdles that Uganda has passed through.
“If anyone comes to you with no clear methods of strengthening the peace we have, don’t listen to them. In fact let them know that they have no place in your homes or communities he said”, he said.
Oulanyah also added that Mzeei Yoweri would be very proud if he lived in our time, and reminded the congregation about the lawlessness that Uganda went through with no rule of Law or freedom of worship in the 1970s.
The Bishop North Ankole Diocese, Bishop Stephen  Namanya hailed Oulanyah for his contributions to the country particularly sterring the house in the right direction and passing the LGBT Bill. He thanked Oulanyah for honoring North Ankole’s invite and presented him with a gift of a heifer.
Col. Fred Mwesigye  NRM (Nyabushoozi) extended his appreciation to Oulanyah whom he says has been instrumental in shaping the agenda for policies in the country.  He committed to work together with Oulanyah for development. Mwesigye also assured the Deputy Speaker Oulanyah that he should feel at home, as the people of Ankole are now his family.
The anniversary celebrations were climaxed by a fundraiser for canon Buningwire church guest house which requires a total of 430M Uganda shillings for the project to be completed.  The guest House sall be a home to visiting Bishops, Reverands, Clergy whenever they travel to Rusherere
