New Project For  Women Empowerment Launched

The former leader

of opposition Winnie Kiiza has asked govt to work on policies that recognize unpaid care as this will help empower women economically.

Speaking at the launch of the  project dubbed We Care phase iv by oxfam and UWONET today in Kampala Kiiza reminds govt of the huge role women play towards the development of a country and continued un paid care by women contributes to slow growth of families and the country.

However the executive director UWONET Ritah Achiro added that the project seeks to shape public narrative around unpaid care and domestic work as an economic issue.

Women spend most of their time doing care work sometimes under hard conditions among them trekking long distances to fetch water, collect firewood, food and many other domestic items.
