Pope Francis Grants Speaker Among Private Audience

Pope Francis Grants Speaker Among Private Audience

The head of the Catholic Church, the bishop of Rome, and the sovereign of the Vatican City State, Pope Francis has invited Ugandan Parliament Speaker, Anita Among for a private meeting.

In a letter from the Vatican dated 3rd July 2023, transmitted through the Apostolic Enunciator in the Federal Republic of Germany, The Holy Father invited the Speaker for a private meeting on Friday the 25th of August 2023.

“His Holiness the Pope has granted a private audience to the Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda on Friday morning 25th August 2023,” the note Verbale read in part.

The Speaker will be accompanied by a delegation of three other Ugandan officials yet to be disclosed to the meeting according to the invitation.

This is the third time the Speaker is meeting Pope Francis in 2021, 2022 since her election to the leadership of the National Assembly on March 25, 2022, to replace Jacob Oulanyah L’Okori, the former Speaker who died in Seattle, Washington State, USA.
