Speaker Among receives MP Ogwal’s body

Speaker Among receives MP Ogwal’s body

Grief engulfed the cargo area of Entebbe International Airport as Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and family members received the body of fallen Dokolo Woman MP Hon Cecilia Ogwal.

Hon Ogwal, 77, died at a hospital in India on Wednesday, following a short hospitalization.

President Yoweri Museveni has since accorded the late Hon Ogwal an official burial, with a special Parliament sitting in her honor slated for Monday 22 January 2024.

Speaker Among received the body in the company of Government Chief Whip Hon Hamson Obua, Health Minister Hon Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, and Sports Minister Hon Peter Ogwang.

Others are Parliamentary Commissioners Hon Solomon Silwany and Hon Esther Afoyocan.

Hon Ogwal’s body is currently headed to Mulago Hospital for a post-mortem and embalming, and after that, a vigil will be held at her home in Bugolobi this evening.
