UGANDA CARES INTO NEW 1 MILLION PADS CAMPAIGN

AIDS Health Care Foundation commonly known as Uganda Cares has today launched a campaign where it intends to distribute one million sanitary pads to school pupils across the country as a means to address the sanitary burden that falls the girl child at school.
The bureau chief AIDS health Care Foundation, Dr. Penina Amor reveals that most vulnerable school going girls always miss 40 days of their classes every year something that has greatly contributed their poor performance and sometimes this has seen a good number of girls drop out of schools, pausing a huge burden to the nation and their respective families as they can not contribute to the development of the nation nor that of their families.
Meanwhile the gender and technical advisor at the education and sports ministry who also confirms that challenges of poor menstruation hygiene being one of the driving factors to the girl child school dropout notes that there are plans under the pipeline by the ministry and development partners to see that girls are provided with pads while at schools.
Angella Nakafero states that in the coming financial year govt plans to allocate UGX.12Bn to facilitate plans to provide sanitary pads to school going girls mainly targeting rural areas where the most vulnerable are placed.
Tomorrow the country will join the rest of the world to mark the day of the girl child with the national celebrations to held in the western district of Kyenjojo.
