Worship Places Are Essential – Pastors

By Julius Muhumuza

Pastors under the National Pastors Platform of Uganda led by  Bishop David Kiganda,  of Christianity focus center Mengo Kisenyi have demanded the reopening of churches that keeping them closed indicates the nation does not respect God.

Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic the government on 18th 3/2020, closed all mass gatherings including places of worship in an effort to protect Ugandans from getting infected.

Addressing journalists at Christianity Church Kisenyi Bishop Kiganda said that there is no sign of reopening of places of worship yet kikubo business center which is not following standard operation procedures (SOPs) is operating.

They said places of worship have the capability of observing standard operation procedures but remain closed.

They launched the campaign of wearing sack clothes as a sign of mourning, repenting and asking for forgiveness as it is in the Bible in the book of Esther 4:1

“With effect from today 8th July, we have chosen to wear sack clothes in lamentation and seeking for God’s forgiveness and repentance until churches are reopened,” Bishop Kiganda said.

In a related development, Volunteering pastors for church reopening, from different dominations have petitioned government through Leader of Born again Faith presiding apostle Dr. Joseph Serwadda to reopen churches because the church is essential.
