In a ceremony held today at Obongi Town Primary School, Dr. George Didi Bhoka, the Member of Parliament for Obongi Constituency, awarded full tuition bursaries to 13 outstanding candidates who completed the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) last year.

This initiative is part of the MP’s campaign promise to support the top 60 students with full tuition bursaries throughout his term in office. With today’s awards, the total number of beneficiaries under the MP’s bursary scheme has risen to 85 students across secondary, tertiary, and university levels.

The Chairperson of the Bursary Committee, Mr. Sende, provided insight into the selection criteria, emphasizing that the bursary is open to all residents of Obongi who complete Primary 7 within the Obongi District.

“This bursary scheme is not affiliated with politics or religion; it is an open bursary for all Obongians,” he stated.

In his address to the gathering, the MP congratulated the 13 awardees, expressing confidence in their abilities and highlighting the importance of education for their future endeavors.

Among the attendees at the ceremony were the Mayor of Obongi Town Council, the Secretary of Works for Obongi District Local Government, the Resident District Commissioner, and the Imam of Riyad Mosque, among others.
Today’s ceremony marked a significant milestone in the MP’s commitment to supporting education and empowering young minds in the Obongi district.
