Parliament has today paid glowing tribute to the late former minister Henry Kyemba who passed on last week, eulogizing him as a clean man who served his country with a high level of diligence with no scandal to his name for his long career in public service and government.

The body of the late Henry Kyemba arrived at parliament at 11 am where it was received by the deputy speaker of parliament Thomas Tayebwa before it was laid in state at the foyer where MPs and other mourners got a chance to have a view.

At 2 p.m. the casket was moved to the chambers of parliament for legislators to pay tribute to the gallant son of the soil in the special parliament sitting which started with laying wreaths on the casket in honor of the late.

Rebecca Kadaga the 1st deputy prime minister who doubles as the minister for East African Affairs moved a motion for the resolution of parliament to pay tribute to the late former minister and distinguished civil servant. Kadaga described Kyemba as a strong advocate and promoter of democracy, and good governance and a champion of strengthening public administration

The leader of the opposition Mathias Mpuuga seconded the motion and hailed the late for taking off time to put down the history of Uganda in his book- “State of the Blood

Mpuuga defended the decision by the Opposition to call off their protest and return to Parliament following events of the past week, saying there was a need to allow common sense to prevail and allow them to celebrate the legacy of a distinguished statesman.

The vice president of Uganda Rtd. Maj Jessica Alupo eulogized Kyemba as a dignified statesman and applauded President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for giving Kyemba an official burial.

Legislators have generally recognized Kyemba as a man of impeccable integrity, who contributed much to the grooming of young politicians not only in the Busoga Subregion where he hails from

Born on 8th December 1939 in Mayuge district, Kyemba succumbed to diabetes-related complications at URO Care Hospital in Kampala.
