Speaker Among Rallies Tororo Residents to Back Museveni and NRM Candidates

Speaker of Parliament and NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, has called on the people of Tororo to rally behind President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and all NRM candidates, emphasizing the peace, stability, and development the ruling party has delivered across the country.

Addressing thousands of supporters at Kisoko Boys Primary School Grounds in Tororo District, Among said Uganda has made tremendous progress under President Museveni’s leadership, citing improved security, new industries, and major road infrastructure as clear signs of transformation.

“Today, people can freely move from Kisoko to town without fear. Those are the gains — the achievements — of this government. If someone says there are no gains, it means they don’t know English,” she remarked to loud applause.

Among highlighted the government’s Parish Development Model (PDM) as a key strategy to lift Ugandans out of poverty, noting that the program provides accessible revolving funds to ordinary citizens without requiring bank collateral.

“Instead of struggling with banks that demand security, the President brought PDM so that everyone can access easy money for income-generating activities,” she said. “We are even increasing the funds at the parish level by 15 million shillings to support local leaders and community structures.”

The Speaker encouraged youth, women, and boda boda riders to form registered groups, assuring them of direct support through her office’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program once they are ready.

Among also urged residents to take charge of the ongoing NRM campaign, describing it as a “village-by-village effort” that depends on grassroots mobilization rather than campaigners from Kampala.

“Each of you is a campaign manager for NRM and President Museveni,” she said. “You are the ones who make NRM number one. Don’t be deceived by those who come with umbrellas asking where the gains are — the gains are visible in our roads, schools, and factories.”

She pointed out key infrastructural projects such as the Tororo–Mbale–Soroti–Lira Road, ongoing works on the Kisoko Road, and the establishment of several factories that have created jobs for local youth.

“Without peace and a stable government, would we have all these factories employing our children? These are the fruits of the NRM government,” she stated.

Closing her remarks, Among called for overwhelming support for President Museveni in the forthcoming campaigns.

“There is no reason why we should give President Museveni anything less than 90 or even 100 percent of the vote,” she declared, as the crowd cheered in agreement.
