The Minister of State for Works, Musa Ecweru, has admitted to delays in the Luwero -Kiwoko-Butalangu Road Project road project, citing undisclosed challenges faced by the contractor, Dot Service Company.

Responding to a matter of national importance raised by Nakaseke Central MP Allan Mayanja, Minister Ecweru attributed the slower progress to unknown difficulties encountered by the contractor and he has requested for a detailed report from the supervising engineers to identify the causes of the delays and offer necessary assistance.

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa suggested that Minister Ecweru personally visit the site to assess the situation, given the road’s significance.

According to Hon. Mayanja, the 29-kilometer road project, valued at 93 billion shillings and funded by the Islamic Development Bank in 2017, is only 8.1% complete, far behind the expected 64% completion rate.

This delay has affected residents, with some yet to receive compensation.
